I love people with whom I can share comfortable silences. People who don’t speak empty words- things some say to alleviate an “awkward” situation. Small talk is fine, sure, but small talk should be small talk, not useless, unimportant talk. Small talk does not equate to senselessly groping for something to say to break an “awkward” silence. Silences are never awkward until you think it is. Otherwise, silence is peace. Silence is sensitivity.
And stupid, empty, random words only make the situation much much worse.
